Fourth Edition - 2007
Changes
- Further synchronizing the allowed products list with the "National Standard of Canada on “Organic Production Systems”. However the lists are NOT identical. Important differences are:
- The SOUL standard does not insist on thermophilic composting
- The use of boneneal and blood meal - while allowed - is highly discouraged
- Prohibited substances are still listed for clarity purposes
- New requirements in the Soil Management section:
- REQUIRED: "Applying nutrient specific fertilizers and pH altering products based on soil or tissue analysis".
- Deleted the previous preferred practice: "Applying fertilizers and pH altering products based on soil or tissue analysis".
- Defined "pH altering substance" and "nutrient specific fertilizer" in glossary
