I completed my Journeyman certification in Landscape Horticulture in the early 1990’s. In partnership with the Burnaby School District I teach Gaia College’s Organic Master Gardener program, Plant Knowledge for Organic Gardeners and guest lecture in the Ecological Landscape Design program. I also teach the Residential Landscape Technician program through Burnaby School District Continuing Education. In 2004 I received the ‘Educator of the Year’ award from the BC Landscape and Nursery Association.
In 2006 I was honoured with the City of Burnaby’s Environmental Award for work at the Eagles Estate heritage garden on the shores of Deer Lake, and for contribution to the successful passing of Burnaby’s Cosmetic Pesticide bylaw. I have served on the board of the Burnaby and Region Allotment Garden Association. BARAGA is the largest community garden in the Lower Mainland encompassing 14 acres of garden plots and a membership of over 400 gardeners. I became SOUL certified in Organic Landcare in 2005. I look forward to serving on the board of SOUL where my goal will be to introduce Organic Landcare to the landscaping industry.
Director - Lee de Rosenroll
In 1996 when I realized you could garden in Vancouver all year round (well almost) I sold my indoor plant maintenance company, loaded up my little red Fiat and moved here from Calgary. Since then I have become a keen member of SOUL, an organic master gardener, an ecological landscape designer and most recently a certified land care professional. Last year my friend Eve and I began doing garden renovations as Girls In The Garden, where our mantra is ‘Organic Matters’. A look to the future has us growing our business, advocating against GMO’s and harmful chemicals and practices, and spreading manure to promote the growth of all things good and healthy.
