Vancouver

This past year, and particularly in the past few months, things have been especially hectic and productive for SOUL Vancouver. We’ve had the election of a new Executive Committee for our branch as well as a new Board for SOUL Central.

We’ve also seen the addition of lots of new members, the holding of the SOUL AGM in Vancouver for the first time ever, and many new and developing plans and activities. Among these: a Speaker Series for our monthly meetings, our involvement in high-profile Community Events, our participation in local Farmers Markets, and the evolution of our Organic Master Gardeners program. And did we mention the establishment of purely social get-togethers – such as the Annual Summer BBQ and the Christmas/Holiday Season Party that we hope will become must-attend events for all of our members?

Please be sure to check back here regularly for all the details about these and further developments at the SOUL Vancouver branch.

Recent Events:

  • Canadian Cancer Society events & meetings
We are currently involved with the Canadian Cancer Foundation branches of the Fraser Valley, working on getting municipal governments to adopt pesticide bans in their communities.  Most recently we have been to Fort Langley for a public forum on pesticides, and to meetings in Surrey.  Part of this dialogue with the Cancer Foundation involves educating the public about how to make the change to Organic practices, so we are trying to organize “Introduction to Organic Land Care” mini-seminars in local municipalities.  We will also be speaking at school board and council meetings. Stay posted for updates on these events.
